Molotov Cocktail

The Molotov Cocktail is a weapon featured in Postal, Postal 2, and Postal III.

Description

"The Molotov Cocktail will ignite its target upon impact. The longer you hold down the fire key before releasing it, the further the Molotov will be thrown. This is a medium to long range weapon, so be sure to move out of the way after tossing it. It also has a secondary fire option, allowing you to place it down safely, which gives you time to run for cover before it ignites. You’ll want to run fast, however, for if you catch on fire, it will take time for you to burn out -- unless you can think of another way to douse the flames…" — The Molotov Cocktail's description in the manual

The Molotov Cocktail is a bottle filled with petrol and has a cloth dabbed with it on top. After it is lit and thrown, the petrol inside explodes into flames, thus burning anything within the radius. This function is the same in all the POSTAL games.

The weapon has the same usage as grenades, in which timing, angle and pitch comes into account. The weapon provides a lot of fun when it comes to slaughtering civilians, but it is almost practically useless against armed enemies, as they will usually put themselves out or run into the player, putting them on fire as well.

Molotov Cocktails are not as rare as grenades, but are still uncommon. In most cases the weapon is acting as a bottle of beer or soda. Some terrorists during and after the assault on the Church carry them.

Trivia

  • The portrait on the bottle is Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Molotov, a Soviet diplomat. This weapon was named after him as a form of insult from the Finnish during the Winter War.
