Hasselridge

A destroyed area of Hasselridge. Note some Paradise elements present.

Hasselridge (sometimes spelt Hassleridge) is the main setting of the third party mod Eternal Damnation.

Overview[]

Unlike Paradise, Arizona, Hasselridge is more like a city, having much taller buildings, a very large mall, an extensive Subway system, and even a Downtown. It's architecture is noticeably more modern, and in a much better state than Paradise.

In comparison, the population of Hasselridge is incredibly sadistic and violent compared to Paradise. Criminals and even the staff of the local asylum commit incredibly cruel and grotesque acts of murder which include dismembering, beheading, skinning, and even crucifixion. However, the Hasselridge Police seems to be not as corrupt as that of Paradise, as they are dispatched to stop incredibly dangerous individuals, such as John. It seems that street gangs are a problem in Hasselridge, as some of the enemies in the earlier levels are Hispanic and Black gangsters, and a SWAT member referring to some gang members as the "bigger fish to fry" opposed to focusing on neutralizing John. Civilians are totally absent for most of the game, and they are often victims to criminals, zombies, or the protagonist John Murray (depending on the player's actions), but share the same traits of the Paradise civilians.

The characters of POSTAL 2 seem to be some sort of stars in Hasselridge, with posters and advertisements in several areas of the city featuring Postal Dude, Gary Coleman, Mike J, and other characters. A cinema in the Downtown features many posters of films adapted to POSTAL such as "Postal Wars" (a Star Wars parody). There are also many buildings and locations reused from the Paradise map.

Hasselridge eventually comes under a major zombie outbreak because of people that have been in contact with cursed Holy Water from the Cathedral, an exposition at the local Museum, and eventually the town's water supply. The zombie outbreak causes varying amounts of damage to the city, with some areas being already destroyed and in complete ruins by the time John arrives.
