Eternal Damnation is a total-conversion modification for POSTAL 2. It is available completely free, with an updated service patch, which fixes some glitches present in the original release. In order to play the game, you will need a pre-1412 version of POSTAL 2 (selectable through Steam's beta branches of POSTAL 2 Complete) or the free multiplayer portion of the Share The Pain version. An unofficial version of the mod compatible with POSTAL 2 Complete was released in 2022.

Following its release, it was later officially shipped by Running With Scissors in the Fudge Pack.

Plot[]

Eternal Damnation is set in a fictional urban town called Hasselridge. The player assumes the role of John Murray, a mental patient who has escaped from an asylum, and must fight to survive a zombie outbreak by using various manic-like weapons such as hedge clippers and deodorant-flamethrowers.

The basis of the story is around biblical allegories. John has a girlfriend named Lorie Heath, whom he dated back in high school but was forbidden to see her by his domineering father. Lorie was at one time a practicing witch who now works at a museum, which had recently put up an exhibit on the "Holy Water of Lazarus", once used by Jesus Christ himself, and had recently "returned to the church".

John escapes the asylum and finds the town overrun with zombies. He goes to see Lorie, who is at first surprised to see him out, and later enraged at him for abandoning her as the town goes to hell. John later sees his father at the carnival, where he learns the reason he forbade John to see Lorie is because she was raped by Father Winston, a priest he trusted when he was younger. John then rampages through the town battling the undead, eventually destroying a subway train, on his way to see Winston, whom he accosts and shoots. But, as Winston lays on the ground dying, he confides in John that he did not rape Lorie and was, in fact, performing an exorcism on her, as she had been possessed by a demon. However, the exorcism was interrupted and thus the demon wasn't extracted from her.

With this knowledge, plus the information he had gathered before, John realizes that all of this mayhem was done by Lorie (or rather, the demon possessing her); she had contaminated the town's water supply with the holy water of Lazarus, turning the townsfolk into zombies and summoning demonic entities.

John eventually tracks her down as she sacrifices Mr. Murray on an altar and summons a slew of chainsaw-wielding demons to kill John, yet he is successful in fighting them off. She then summons a larger demon (possibly the one who had possessed her in the first place) and attacks John herself, only for him to kill both her and the demon. A despondent John sadly admits to her that he's "no savior" and that he would meet her soon in eternal damnation.

Some time later John, broken hearted over losing Lorie, kills himself by blowing his head off with a pistol.

Gameplay[]

Much like Apocalypse Weekend, the game follows a linear level to level structure with few freeroam elements. Zombies and dismemberment are prominently featured with unique weapons and levels.

Freeroam Mode[]

The game has a hidden POSTAL 2-like free roaming mode, featuring revamped Hasselridge maps from the main campaign, as well as a few completely new town areas. The maps seem to be mostly finished, with respawning zombies and bystanders. To access this mode, open the console using tilde key and type the command "goto cus-freeroam".

Steam Version[]

A port of the mod to POSTAL 2 Complete was developed by Man Chrzan, released on August 1, 2022. Based on the unfinished 8.0 version of ED, it also includes various improvements to the original, such as native widescreen support, full inclusion of the freeroam mode, bug fixes, and more weapons. It is available on ModDB and the Steam Workshop.

A remake known as Eternal Damnation: Resurrected was in the works for POSTAL 2 Complete. It was initially being worked on by the Paradise Lost team before being handed off to Revival Games. It has since been placed on hold as the Revival Games team were hired by RWS to work on POSTAL 4: No Regerts.

When completed, it will be released via Steam Workshop and will require Paradise Lost to play.
